Hello UberCommunity!
So I was surfing a certain
social news website (you guys probably know which one I am talking about
) and I came across an interesting function in which people of various
backgrounds and jobs would talk about themselves while answering
questions. I thought it was pretty cool and soon got addicted to reading
these
These would probably be a nice treat to the community since a lot of
you have probably heard of me, but don't know much about me.
For
those of you who don't know much about me, I started playing Uberstrike
in July of 2011. I didn't have much to do with school being out. I was
searching through "Free shooter games"
(Ha, I am so cheap) and I found Uberstrike after a few hours of
searching. What really caught my eye about the game was the fact that
this game was simple, relatively new, playable across platforms, and had
a lot of new players like I. Early in my "career" I was addicted to
Monkey Island. I loved the different strategies that could be employed
on the different sides of the map whether you were on the Red team or Blue team. With this game being my first shooter, I really sucked in the beginning xD
Eventually
I got better! At level 5, I learned how to strafe and I was pretty
unbeatable with my shadow gun. When I think about it, I really miss the
old "Uberstrike" The one where you could get the Shadow Gun at level 5,
and most players above level 10 were considered pro's
Fast forward about a month and I meet a player named ace shoot2.0
He was around lvl 10 and we were in a game at Monkey Island with a
bunch of low level players. Out of all the noobs, he noticed that I had
the best score out of all and I was simply dominating them with a KDR of
around 8-10. He saw promise in me and trained me for a short period of
time. He was in a clan called L!M!T
and I wasn't in a clan at the time. I mentioned to him that I liked his
tag and that I wanted it too. He, surprised, replied that he saw some
potential in me and that he would tell his leader about me (Whom I would
learn is the great CJ Young, now leader of -ALW-)
A few days after, an officer from L!M!T/LSTRM
joined a game with me at Monkey Island and observed as I obliterated
players with my Shadow Gun. I was only level 5-6 at the time, but I
think I had fairly impressed my observer. I was sent with an invite to LSTRM.
I was overjoyed to be in that clan! Haha I had some great times there,
mostly those memories being me getting pwned by level 10-20's. After a
while, I noticed that the clan hadn't been the most active and I left.
As a clanless player, I would receive various invites from clans that
would disband about a week later. I decided that I would start
researching the great clans in the community and get ideas on how to
find great players and form a clan. I had a short stint creating a clan
called K~W That clan crashed and
burned pretty quickly; recruiting was pretty horrible on my behalf. I
would literally join random games and send invites to the players with
the top scores, HA. Pretty funny, right? Well I soon learned the
consequences of my bad recruiting when I would have semi-decent players
joining the clan, not responding to my messages, and leaving weeks
afterward. I disbanded K~W
Fast forward once again to December 2011. I've made some great friends in the community in btuner and PeterTehDumb.
We were around level 11-13 at the time, and I've seen patterns in how
great clans run. I won't necesarrily share those things but I figured "Hey, I could do those things!" So soon, I made plans regarding my new clan. I gathered some of my best friends in btuner, PeterTehDumb,
and others. About a week after forming the clan, we had a solid lineup
of five players! We had even won our first clan war.Now through this
slow growing process of our clan, rise has built up a
reputation as a skilled(?) semi-pro clan with nice players (most of the
time) and a family atmosphere and I hope we can continue growing and
thriving in Uberstrike!
Now, I wrote those last few paragraphs
pretty quickly because I was in a rush, but I will edit these later with
even more fine details! I will answer any question you guys post here
with as much information as I can. Seeing as I have nothing to do, I
really hope I can get a lot of questions here and people will leave this
thread knowing me a lot better. You can ask me things regarding how
running a clan is like, my different prefrences, my thoughts on the
evolving of the game, my habits outside of the game, etc.
Anything you want to know about me, I will tell you.
Ubercommunity, ask away!
superbee : In between uber what do you do outside of it?
Outside of Uberstrike, I'm usually chatting with my clanmates through
our Facebook group on things that can be done to strengthen our clan
(whether that be new events, looking at recruits)
Outside of the
online world, I spend my summer days watching my younger sister and
taking care of her. She's a cutie but shes a handful to take care of.
I'm also a student leader at my youth group at church; I love the family
I have there. I think you should really maintain a strong spiritual
life, no matter your beliefs.
Stephenwin:
#1) What got you started about the clan name?
#2) At the time the clan was created, what were your goals/achievements you wanted to get?
#3) Do you think it's awesome to be managing an awesome clan?
#4) What other games are you interested in besides Uberstrike?
#5) What were your thoughts when I joined the clan/why did you really want me in the clan?
#6) What do you think of the progress, and the achievements made by [RISE!] as of right now?
#7) Who is the best player in the clan (truthful!)? <-- A lot of people has asked me this, and I want to know your opinion on this .
1) When I thought of a visual for the clan, I had always thought of a
dark, majestic bird soaring over world of Uberstrike...what immediately
came to mind was a phoenix but PX was already taken xD
What came to mind after that was the word rise, I thought "Hey, rise would be a pretty sweet clan tag, and it isn't already taken"
Bonus: I love hearing jokes about seeing this clan "rise" to the top
2)
I wanted this clan to stand out from the others! Unlike clans that
disband after the first month, the foundation of the clan has been
around since the beginning. I started recruiting players on their
attitude, loyalty, and skill potential. A lot of times, recruiting the
skilled player often results in fights within the clan, people leaving,
and hopping. I wanted this clan to stay around for a long time because I
know that over time, you will improve.
3) Of course its awesome!
As a clan leader, you have to be extremely mature and you should be
able to handle problems in such a manner. To sum it all up, you should
set a fine role model for your fellow clanmates to follow.
4) I
don't play a lot of games aside from Uberstrike (I invest so much time
here) However before playing this game, I had played a certain game with
a similar name to the words "Run-escape" Its a pretty popular MMORPG
and I had played it since I was in 2nd grade but after 6-7 years of
playing, I had found it boring and decided it was time to move on to
shooters.
5) At the time, we didn't have a lot of skilled
players. We had 2-3 skilled players and the rest I thought were
beginners or players that were good at one map. I thought it was pretty
weird how we met because you were in DOOM~ at the time, and we were in the same game around the time when mflo.tastic
had invited me to the clan. I really wanted you in the clan because you
were well known, had a cool name, and would pwn me ingame (those are
just a few reasons) It took a while, but I knew you would eventually
come around xD
I remember after announcing that you had joined, I had a lot of requests from people asking to join RISE!. Hehe I immediately had a feeling that it was because of you.
6)
I'm simply amazed by the progress this clan has achieved. I had set
high hopes for this clan, but deep inside I had doubts over whether or
not we would reach such levels. Recently we had a clan war with FiNAL,
a clan that I had admired for a long time. I had never thought that we
would be on the same level with them (we still might not be) but I was
surprised with how close the score was against them. With supekiller's new clan league coming soon, I'm hoping we can reach newer heights and show people what we are made of.
7)
Ah, I've been waiting for a while to answer this question. If I had to
give a top 5 of the players in the clan (in no particular order) it
would be Btuner, myself, Kidsniper03, Stephenwin, and Uberdeath : D
In a head to head comparison, I would say you (Stephen) or Uberdeath would be the most skilled players. Kidsniper03
has contributed a lot to this clan and his very skilled, I think he has
been in the most clan wars out of anyone else in the clan. Btuner
and I have been friends since the beginning and I've seen his
improvement firsthand. In the early days, I would pwn him with my shadow
gun while he would have an enigma cannon and black corps armor; we were
both early Monkey Island specialists, but the fights wouldn't be so
close. Cuberstrike came out, and if you would play against Btuner today, you wouldn't last very long. I've even seen a lot of comparisons to DA GREAT RAY (which I am pretty jealous of) During clan wars against elite clans, I would trust our hands to any 5 of us.
A.S.B.time: "Why u choosed Uberstrike from all games you found?"
Well I had tried 3-4 games (which I cannot mention in
forums) but a lot of them had a really slow pace, which isn't my style
of gameplay at all. I get bored easily with slow paced games. Some games
also had extremely ugly graphics, some were dark and I couldn't even
see what was going on in game
Aaron Tsoi: "What were the first thing that u learned from the game. other than strafing"
Starting
Uberstrike, I didn't know anything about shooters. I would spam my
machine gun and hope I would be able to do a decent amount of damage
before I would die. Other things I learned were: Don't stay in one spot
(unless you're a great camper ) Go for precision and accuracy rather than shooting and hoping you hit
the opponent, map control is key to winning, and teamwork always wins.
pwnyboy64: "When did you try other maps besides monkey island and how did you do the first times?"
I
started playing outside of Monkey Island when Cuberstrike came out (It
was the first map that came out since I had started playing) I was
simply curious of how it was like; and I was amazed! The large space,
intricate cube patterns, and various strategies had me hooked to the
map. I loved Monkey Island, but I soon grew tired of playing people at
that map and I wanted to improve my abilities as a player. I also
noticed that there were fewer games on that map and people would often
rage quit after I would join. The next maps that I would play on were: Gideon's Tower, Lost Paradise 2, and Cuberstrike.
superbee: "What was it like when you would kill a high level person and they would call you a "noob"? Lol"
This
was another reason I had left Monkey Island, the map was often filled
with newer players and few high leveled players would join. Its a shame
because that map is well balanced with different spots for various
strategies and I felt it was an extremely balanced map. Most often when I
would kill a higher level player, they wouldn't respond xD
Ian Lim99: "Do you like the current version of Uberstrike?"
I'm
not exactly pleased with the new version of Uberstrike. I'll start
liking it more once they fix the horrid leveling system. Another thing I
think is worse than the leveling system is the OP offers that they are
releasing. First the Force Cannon+, then the Black Corps armor, and now the Arctic Rifle
? I think these offers are absolutely destroying the balance of the
game. I would love to have the old version back for the simple sake of
nostalgia. The older version was so much more simple, and the game was
balanced back then.
Ian Lim99: "What is your sense of style? Heavy armour or light clothes?
I try not to use a lot of AP, I rely more on map control. If you meet me ingame, you'll probably find me with an Uberjacket and some non-armor pants. Occasionally, I get frustrated with the inbalances of the game and get the Sentinel Power Grieves (40 AP) Before all of this new equipment came out, I would wear the Sforce Ninja Armor. But nowadays I try to be as "basic" as I can.
Ian Lim99: "What weapons do you use? (I wouldn't believe a pro would be using machine guns?
Its hard to believe, isn't it?
Nowadays, I use the Cannon, Shotgun, and my sniper would either be FuLa or Ordinator.
Occasionally I would use the basic Sniper Rifle but I don't like it as much as my other snipers. The scope is inferior and I think the Sniper Rifle
should have a faster Rate of Fire. I think that a basic loadout is the
best because it shows your real skill and as a bonus, they have a
superior rate of fire compared to the likes of the Dark Vanquisher and Force Cannon After "retiring" from my Shadow Gun and before using a basic loadout, I would use a Cannon, Pain Hammer, and a Deliverator. The Cannon is simply the best weapon in the game, the Pain Hammer is the best shotgun in my opinion (I believe its OP) and one could argue that the Deliverator is the best all-around sniper rifle in terms of speed and power.
